With these pieces of work, I shone a light through the petri-dishes in the dark. I then photographed these images. What is interesting, is when the paint was very thick, it creates a darkness, however when the paint is much thinner, it creates these interesting shapes. None of the photographs have been edited.

Blue too soon
An older animation using acrylic paint mixed with water. Each photograph was taken every 2 minutes over a period of twenty minutes.

Blue
This animation has been the most successful due to the focus shift not changing. The paint used was acrylic mixed with water. Each photograph was taken every two minutes over a period of two hours.

Murky
Another animation showing the transitional period of paint drying. The paint used was tempera mixed with a little water. Each photograph was taken every two minutes over a period of thirty minutes.
